In spring 2012 all class meetings will be completed before the end of February. The presentations that each student must make to the class on his or her paper topic will be made at a “retreat” to be held either Friday February 17 through Sunday February 19, or Friday February 24 through Sunday February 26. This student presentation retreat will most likely be held at the facilities of the University of Pittsburgh Ecology Laboratory in Pymatuning, Pennsylvania, and there may be some additional cost for each student for lodging and meals at the retreat. All members of the seminar are required to attend and participate in this retreat. After February, consultation with and comments by Professor Flechtner concerning the course and seminar papers will be by email.
Grading
Evaluation of student performance in the seminar will be based on a combination of the seminar paper that each student is required to write, an in-class presentation (also required of each student), and general class participation.
