Course Description from Course Catalog 5873
Additional Info
In addition to regular class meetings, each student will meet individually with the professor (1) in the first month of the semester to discuss topic selection and initial research, (2) after submission and review of the first draft of the paper, (3) prior to his or her presentation, and (4) after his or her presentation in order to discuss professor and student feedback.
The second half of the semester will be devoted to student papers and presentations. Students will make their presentations either during the regular weekly class meetings scheduled after spring break or at a single Friday-Sunday retreat at a location away from Pittsburgh. Information on which of these formats will be used (and the dates if it is the second format) will be available from the Professor by the first week of the semester. If the second format is used, there may be some cost to each student (room and meals).
Grading
The grade will be based upon a paper, a class presentation, and general class participation (including participation in the discussion of the papers presented by student colleagues).
