Additional Info
The focus will be on the resources of the Appalachian Basin, including coal, wind and natural gas. Topics will include: the distinction between monopoly-based and competition-based regulation; the unique challenges to renewable energy development; the interplay of local, state and federal jurisdiction over issues like siting, licensing and permitting; and issues currently facing Marcellus Shale development.
Grading
The final exam will be take-home. There may also be a take-home midterm assignment or a group presentation.
