David Harris on Canadian Radio on the Radicalization of American and Canadian Citizens Who Become Terrorists
Professor David Harris was interviewed on May 13 on CHML’s Morning Show (Hamilton, ON) about recent cases in which people have attempted terror attacks on their adopted countries, in which they now hold citizenship. David discussed the recent case of Faisal Shazad, a naturalized American citizen who attempted to detonate a car bomb in Times Square, and several similar Canadian cases. One important fact to note in all of these terrorist actions, he pointed out, is that the problem always extremism, regardless of ideology. This is a common thread of terrorism cases that connects Shazad to Tim McVeigh, who bombed the federal courthouse in Oklahoma City more than ten years ago.
