David Harris on WDUQ Commenting on the New Arizona Immigration Law and the Copycat Pennsylvania law

Professor David Harris discussed the new Arizona law on immigration enforcement on WDUQ’s local news on Morning Edition.  The law would obligate police to make inquiries about immigration status every time there is “reasonable suspicion” that a person might not have legal status.  This will harm the ability of local police to insure public safety.  A copycat Pennsylvania law, introduced in the state legislature by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe of Cranberry, would bring the same kind of harm to law enforcement here.
