ADMISSIONS/FINANCIAL AID

Important Changes for Refunds for 2008-2009!!!!

  • Meme Jeffries, Director of Financial Aid

The Student Payment Center has announced a change in policy for refunds for the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year. If you are expecting a refund from your financial aid, please read this announcement carefully!
If you do NOT have a Direct Deposit profile in PittPAY and you are due a refund, you will NOT receive a check until AFTER the add/drop period ends. Since aid is posted on accounts 10 days before the beginning of the term, and the add/drop period lasts for the first two weeks of the term, students who do not use the Direct Deposit option are looking at receiving their refunds in the middle of September. Please be advised that there will be such a substantial delay in receiving a refund via paper check.

We want to make sure you receive your refund money as quickly as possible. The Direct Deposit option takes only two to three business days from the date of the refund transaction on the student account, and refunds are generated every business day. Additionally, the funds are immediately available for you to use once they are deposited into the designated bank account.
Here's how you sign up for Direct Deposit:

Log onto http://my.pitt.edu and select Student Services then select PittPAY. Select Direct Deposit from the PittPAY menu and follow the instructions. You will need your bank account information readily available to complete the process (which will take less than three minutes).

If anyone needs assistance, please contact the Student Payment Center at payments@bc.pitt.edu.

CAREER SERVICES

"Soup's On" Public Interest Reception

  • Mary Thinium, Director of Career Services and Public Interest Initiatives

On Monday, April 21, the CSO and PLISF will host a "Soup's On" Public Interest Recognition Reception in the Alcoa Room from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. We will be serving soup, salad, bread and desserts. More importantly, we will be honoring students who have received public interest fellowships; those who do significant volunteer work; representatives from local public interest organizations; and sponsoring law firms.
Frequently, participants are only able to attend a portion of the program - the event lends itself to people coming and going, so feel free to drop by as your schedule allows. However, please let me know if you are planning on attending by e-mailing me (thinium@pitt.edu).

Please also let me know, when you RSVP, if you have received a PLISF or CILE grant for public interest work (and where you will be working); if you received other forms of fellowship support or recognition; if you have contributed to public service through volunteerism, and so on. This information will be printed in a program. Thanks for your hard work throughout the year and I look forward to seeing you on Monday the 21st.
