PLISF/NLG Public Interest & Government Career Panel
Interested in learning about awesome careers in public interest law?
The Pitt Legal Income Sharing Foundation and the National Lawyers Guild are proud to present the PLISF/NLG Public Interest & Government Career Panel.
Join us this Thursday, February 14 at noon in the Teplitz Moot Courtroom to hear local public-interest lawyers discuss their public-interest careers, how they got to where they are, and how you can become them one day. Just before 1:30 p.m., we will end the panel discussion and enter the Student Lounge for a reception (that will include lunch) where you can talk to the panelists, exchange business cards, and inquire about possible opportunities. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is considering a public-interest career and/or is looking to meet public-interest professionals in the Pittsburgh area.
Panelists include:
- Patrick Grenter, Executive Director, Center for Coalfield Justice
- Katy McKee, Staff Attorney, Neighborhood Legal Services Association
- Richard Brean, General Counsel, United Steelworkers Association
- Alexandra Morgan Kurtz, Legal Fellow, ACLU-PA
- Tara Pfiefer, Staff Attorney, Women's Law Project
There will also be a special appearance by Rochelle McCain, the Pitt Law Office of Career and Professional Development's new director of public-interest/government jobs. Prior to coming to Pitt, Rochelle was an attorney in the Indiana Attorney General's office, where part of her job was hiring new lawyers. She will speak about the government hiring process and what she looked for in candidates.
All who attend the panel will receive a packet with the contact information of the organizations involved.
