University of Pittsburgh School of Law

This presentation is an overview of the Medicare health system.  It is designed and intended to provide you with a basic understanding of Medicare – how it functions in delivering health care coverage for almost 50 million individuals.  We will examine the purpose and design of the Medicare system; the Medicare vocabulary; eligibility and enrollment into Medicare; the component parts of Medicare; and how to compare and evaluate the available options to achieve the most effective and affordable health care coverage.  This seminar will not make you an expert on the subject of Medicare, but it will provide you with an effective overview of the topic, and a functional foundation upon which you can later expand your knowledge of the Medicare system.
