The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid presents the Faculty Summer Series for Admitted Students!

Professor Hamoudi, the 1L Contracts Professor for Section A, is the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid's first speaker in a summer series. It will be a casual event and there will be light refreshments.

Professor Hamoudi will discuss his time in Baghdad negotiating amendments to the Iraq constitution as well as the book he had developed from that experience, entitled Negotiating in Civil Conflict: Constitutional Construction and Imperfect Bargaining in Iraq. Specifically, Professor Hamoudi will address some of the problems in constitutional drafting that can arise in a state like Iraq, which is severely divided along ethnosectarian lines, with different groups having wildly different conceptions of what the state should look like. From there, Professor Hamoudi will move to the subject of drafting in a very different context, specifically as it pertains to contracts and commercial transactions, which is where he centers most of his teaching. He will describe how he takes the lessons he develops from his scholarly work (including his Iraq constitution work), and from nearly a decade of practice, into the classroom to offer students the practical skills they need to succeed as lawyers.
