Robert T. Harper

Adjunct Professor of Law

Robert T. Harper is a shareholder in the law firm of Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling where he serves on the Firm’s Board of Directors and is the Vice President of Administration. He is the Co-Chairman of the Firm’s Corporate practice group and Chairman of its Health Law practice group.

In his practice, Mr. Harper represents for profit and nonprofit healthcare entities in acquisition transactions and general business and corporate matters. He also advises hospitals, health maintenance organizations, managed-care entities and other providers in a variety of healthcare matters. In business affairs, he counsels corporations and other entities in acquisitions, sales, financings and reorganizations.

Mr. Harper is a summa cum laude graduate of Duke University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his law degree from Duke University School of Law.

Mr. Harper is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he currently teaches courses in Healthcare Business Transactions, Financing the Healthcare Industry and Business Organizations. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Health Law Certificate Program. Mr. Harper is a member of the American Law Institute and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Corporate Law and Health Law. Mr. Harper is a frequent speaker for the American Bar Association, the National Institute on Mergers and Acquisitions and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute on corporate law matters, including business acquisitions and takeovers, and on a variety of healthcare matters.

Mr. Harper is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Allegheny and Philadelphia County Bar Associations. In his activities with the American Bar Association he serves in the Health Law Section, and in the Business Law Section where he is a member of the Negotiated Acquisitions Committee and Chairman of the Task Force on Revisions to the Model Stock Purchase Agreement.

Mr. Harper devotes a substantial amount of his time to civic and charitable activities in the community and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is Chairman of the Board of Advisors of Duke University Libraries, a former Trustee of Duke University and Past President of the Duke University Alumni Association. Mr. Harper is active in the Pittsburgh cultural community and serves as a Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Society. He is legal counsel and Clerk of Session to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania
