Richard Wainwright

Visiting Professor of Law

Professor Wainwright is a consultant on European Union law issues with the firm of Allen & Overy and has extensive experience in the legal field of European Law. He started out his career as a government lawyer in Britain and then as a legal advisor to British Petroleum before accepting a position with the European Commission. Professor Wainwright spent over 20 years with the European Commission, eventually assuming the Head of the Competition Team until 2005. Professor Wainwright received a Bachelors in Classics and Ancient Law from Oxford and was called to the British bar from the Inns of Court School of Law in London. He has published extensively in the Common Market Law Review, the European Law Review, and the Oxford Yearbook of European Law, among others.
