John Burkoff on Veon Appeal

Professor John Burkoff was quoted by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review in connection with possible appeal of the criminal conviction of former Pennsylvania House of Representatives member Mike Veon.

Alleged problems with the jury that convicted former House Democratic Whip Mike Veon and two former aides are “very strong issues” the defendants could use on appeal, a legal expert said.

But, cautioned John Burkoff, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, trial issues deemed fertile for appeal by no means guarantee success.
