David Harris Briefs Criminal Justice Leaders in Houston on Profiling Report

Professor David Harris briefed citizen leaders in Houston about a report by the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, to be published next week, on the use of racial and ethnic profiling against African Americans and Latinos.  The report, titled "Harris County Communities:  Building Community Trust and Improving Public Safety," describes how racial and ethnic targeting by police in Harris County, Texas (the county that includes Houston) has a major negative impact on black and brown communities, and on police efforts to control crime.  Professor Harris assisted the staff of the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition in shaping and writing the report.
