Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

The University Center for International Studies (UCIS) Center for Latin American Studies, Center for Russian and East European Studies, and the Global Studies Center offer fellowships to study a less commonly taught language (see the application for qualified languages) and the area studies courses (part of the area studies certificate programs offered through the centers: http://www.ucis.pitt.edu/main/).

Please familiarize yourself with the area studies centers and their programs if you plan to apply for the fellowship. The final awards are contingent upon funding from the U.S. Department of Education.

These fellowships are full tuition and include most fees and a stipend of $16,000.
