The Center for International Legal Education (CILE) is pleased to announce Pitt Law students Kevin Leary (Class of 2014) and Kate Mafrica Langford (Class of 2014) have been selected by the Ministry of Higher Education of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the Education Without Borders (EWB) Conference in Dubai March 25-28, 2013. The EWB conference is a biennial international student conference that engages the world’s most innovative students and leaders of business, technology, education, and the humanitarian sector in a collaborative forum committed to action. The goal of the conference is to discuss and propose solutions to the issues of education and educational technology in the 21st century. CILE will provide travel fellowships, and the UAE Ministry of Higher Education will cover the costs of the conference, including housing and meals.

This year, the EWB conference will be combined with the UAE Higher Colleges of Technology biennial Festival of Thinkers (FOT) conference. The FOT conference provides international students an opportunity to interact and learn from Nobel Laureates and others for the purpose of fostering creativity beyond cultural boundaries at the scientific and social level. Some of the challenges covered will include globalization, availability of education, research and innovation, health and wellness, and the economic future of the world.
