Publish Date/Time:

Pitt Law Dean and Professor William Carter delivered the first lecture of the Pitt School of Social Work Center on Race and Social Problems’ 2013 Reed Smith Spring Speaker Series back on Jan. 30. Titled “The Future of Affirmative Action,” the lecture examined, among other cases, Fisher v. University of Texas, in which a White female student who was not accepted to the university is alleging racial discrimination. Carter discussed recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions that suggest affirmative action could soon be eliminated altogether in both college admissions and employment.
