Guilty of Insider Trading: A Discussion with Garrett Bauer
Tuesday, March 20th at 12:30pm. Teplitz Memorial Courtroom
 
Garrett Bauer pled guilty to insider trading and money laundering in December 2011. Bauer was a trader in NYC who engaged in insider trading for 17 years netting him $37 million. He was able to run this scheme for with the help of an attorney, Matthew Kluger, who worked at some of the largest law firms in the country (Cravath, Skadden) and shared confidential information to Bauer. Mr. Bauer will be discussing the details of what he did, how he got caught, the FBI raid of his apartment, his experience in a maximum security prison, and what life is like now that he is facing a sentence of up to 11 years in federal prison. This event will be via Webcast as Mr. Bauer is unable to physically travel to Pittsburgh. There will be a question and answer period following his discussion.
