John Burkoff on Why State Sen. Orie Will Probably Testify in Her Own Defense
Professor John Burkoff explained why State Senator Jane Orie will probably have to testify in her own defense at her re-trial for political corruption. She testified in her first trial, Professor Burkoff said, and will need to do so again, especially because this time there are additional charges of fraud and perjury. Defendants have a constitutional right to remain silent at trial, but in practical terms Orie has little choice. "She really has to testify," Burkoff said.
