David Harris at the University of Illinois College of Law on the Profiling of Muslims

Professor David Harris spoke at the University of Illinois College of Law on Thursday, March 29.  He discussed the use of religious and ethnic profiles of Muslims and persons of Middle Eastern appearance in the effort to safegaurd the country against terrorist attacks.  Using data and examples drawn from his work and others, Professor Harris questioned the assumptions underlying profiling by law enforcement and security services, and explained how profiling would actually undermine security.
