John Burkoff on Defense Subpoenas in Case Against Justice Joan Orie Melvin

Publish Date/Time:

Professor John Burkoff explained the rationale behind the broad subpoenas filed by defense lawyers for PA Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin in her political corruption case.  Professor Burkoff said that the subpoenas, which were quite unusual so ealy in the case, were strategic in nature.  “It’s clear what she’s trying to do is to impeach the credibility of some of those witnesses against her and trying to show a political motivation against her.”   Professor Burkoff's comments appeared in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
