Alumnus J. Chadwick Schnee, ’09, Second-Chairs Historic Case Before the Pa. Supreme Court

J. Chadwick Schnee, currently an attorney for the Pa. Office of Open Records, was part of the first nationally televised session of the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court which took place in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the site of the first U.S. Supreme Court. Pennsylvania justices have not met there in 209 years.

“The experience – representing the Office of Open Records in Independence Hall during Constitution Week – was truly an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Schnee said.  “Being in that historic setting and hearing arguments shaped by my briefs is a memory that will stay with me.”   The question was whether an appellate court can decide an open record case or if it must defer to the decision of the Pa. Office of Open Records which was created in January of ’09.
