Civil Litigation Certificate:  Court  Observation Sign-Up

Professor Mannix

The Fall date for the Civil Litigations’ Court Observation opportunity has been set for Friday November 18th.

If you attended a court observation last year, you need not attend again this year.   Sign up will take place in the clinic offices from October 17 through October 21st- you can sign up for the Court Observation at the same time you sign up for permission numbers for the small skills classes (this includes the time period when I will be stationed outside the Registrar’s office on Oct 20th!)

Our partner in this program is the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County – we owe them a debt of gratitude for the time and energy that they have committed in planning a day that will be informative and useful to you.  Experienced trial attorneys have volunteered to be your guides through the civil court system.  Registration is first come, first served and spaces are limited.  Second year civil litigation certificate students as well as third year certificate students may register for this opportunity.   3LS are given priority.

The observation takes place downtown in the Court of Common Pleas Civil Division from 8:30 until mid-afternoon. Professional dress is required.

We anticipate that there will be two additional opportunities in the spring; however, 3Ls who need to fulfill this part of the certificate should not wait until the last opportunity in the spring!
