John Burkoff on Possible Self-Defense Claim in Washington County Shooting

Professor John Burkoff commented on a possible self-defense argument in a recent Washington County killing.  The incident began as a road rage argument, which seems to have escalated to a physical altercation.  The man who was killed is said to have punched the shooter, who then obtained a pistol and shot the first man.  According to Professor Burkoff, “[i]t could be you are faced with some kind of force, but you’re not always allowed to use deadly force against people. You can only use (deadly force) if it is necessary to defend yourself.”
