David Harris at the Vera Institute's Prosecution and Racial Justice Project
Professor David Harris participated in the semi-annual meeting of the Vera Institute's Prosecution and Racial Justice Program on December 6 and 7, 2012. The Program is a pioneering effort to collect statistics on prosecutorial discretion and then analyze these data for participating prosecution offices around the country; the statistical patterns and analyses enable prosecutors to understand when racial disparities may be arising from their office practices. Professor Harris has been a member of the Program's Advisory Board since its inception. The meeting, which took place in Austin, Texas, examined results from current sites, as well as not-yet-released analyses from the newest site, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.
