Professor Lawrence A. Frolik
, one of the nation's leading authorities on Elder Law, presented "The Ethics of Subsidized, Mandatory Long-Term Care Insurance" at the University of Notre Dame Law School on Thursday, November 9.
Professor Frolik's presentation was part of the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy symposium, "Long-Term Care For America's Elderly: Who is Responsible and How Will It be Achieved?" In his lecture, Professor Frolik examined why long-term care insurance was necessary as a payment source for long-term care. He explained why the purchase of such insurance should be mandated as it is in Japan and Germany in light of the factors that discourage individuals from voluntarily purchasing such insurance.
