Pitt Law Professor Thomas Ross Comments To WTAE On Mazzei Bankruptcy Lawyer Suspension
WTAE reporter Paul Van Osdol speaks to Pitt Law Professor Thomas Ross
A recent WTAE Channel 4 News segment, "Bankruptcy lawyer accused of overcharging clients, misspending thousands of dollars," revealed a court investigation concluded that local bankruptcy lawyer, Jason Mazzei, abused the system. WTAE reached out to University of Pittsburgh School of Law Professor Thomas Ross, an expert in legal ethics, for commentary. Ross said comingling funds, one of the practices Mazzei is accused of, is one of the most serious offenses for a lawyer.
“Comingling funds represents a violation of a deep fiduciary obligation that lawyers owe to clients,” Ross said.
