A weekend of networking, learning, and fun at a beautiful Retreat Center in Peterborough, New Hampshire. This year’s theme is “Justice For All: Social Movement Lawyering for the People.”

Only $195 (includes retreat fees, lodging, and all meals/food).

The University Of Pittsburgh School of Law offers the Student Professional Development Fund to qualified law students who seek to attend professional development events occurring at a minimum distance of 50 miles from Oakland. Application documents are located in the PittLawWorks Resource Library. The Office of Professional and Career Development (OPCD) provides student reimbursement at a maximum of $250 per student per academic year.

Last year the retreat had 146 law students from 34 law schools and 26 public interest law practitioners attend, including reps from the ACLU, Labor, LGBTQ Rights, Disability Rights, Public/Capital Defense, Policy Advocacy, Environmental, Reproductive Freedom, Educational Equity Law, Civil & Human Rights, Asylum/Immigration Advocates, and more....

Where: Sargent Center, Peterborough, NH (accessible from Boston, MA, Manchester, NH, and Hartford, CT).

What: The Robert M. Cover Retreat brings together law students, academics and practitioners committed to public interest to share their experiences, network and reinvigorate their commitment to this important work. The weekend is filled with exciting discussions and workshops on reproductive justice, environmental justice, police accountability, criminal justice, gender identity advocacy, activism and many other interesting topics.

Travel and Carpool: If a student has travel questions, please ask them to contact Ben Smilowitz (smilowitzlaw@gmail.com). Students should check with Ben before booking flights or trains (if they want a carpool arranged) to confirm that they are arriving early enough on Friday or departing late enough on Sunday to get rides to/from the Retreat site.

Carpools can only be arranged for arrival before and departure after specific times - check with Ben before booking.

Plane: Students can fly to Manchester (MHT), Boston (BOS), or Hartford (BDL). We'll help students find carpools from those airports.
Train: Students can take trains to Hartford or Springfield and join carpools from either location.
Car: We expect multi-school carpools will depart from Boston, NYC, Hartford, New Haven, and Springfield. Possibly DC, too.

Students should aim to arrive at the Retreat Site between 4:00-5:30 PM on Friday February 23th. The Retreat will end at 12 PM noon on Sunday, February 25th.

The 31st Annual Cover Retreat is being organized by students from University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law and sponsored by Yale Law School and Society of American Law Teachers (SALT).

Reimbursements are available until the OPCD Fund is depleted.
