Ronald Brand Among Amici in Case Questioning Jurisdiction Over Foreign Manufacturer

Professor Ronald A. Brand participated as one of the Amici Law Professors in the Brief of Law Professors as Amici Curiae for Respondent, filed with the United States Supreme Court on December 20, 2010, in the case of J. Mcintyre Machinery Ltd. v. Robert Nicastro. The case raises questions whether the application of the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process Clause prevents a state trial court from exercising jurisdiction over a foreign defendant manufacturer when the sale of the manufactured goods occurs outside the state in which the court is located, but injury from the operation of the goods occurs in that state.
