The Women’s Bar Association (WBA) of Western Pennsylvania celebrates its 25 years of continued support of women in the legal profession in 2014 and this month hosts its most prominent event of the year, the Susan B.

Pitt Law 3Ls Christopher Manzi and David Mulock won the finalist trophy at the 2014 Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) Regional Mock Trial competition, held February 6-9, 2014, at the Criminal Justice Center in Philadelphia, Pa.

The American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Taxation has announced the JD and LL.M. division semifinalists for the 13th Annual ABA Section of Taxation Law Student Tax Challenge. The Pitt Law student team of Yelena Cheskidova (’14) and Eduardo Santaolalla (‘14) are among the six JD teams and four LL.M.

Deborah S. Ryan (née Eisenbud) (’98) has been promoted to Deputy District Attorney in charge of the Chester County Child Abuse Unit, according to an article in the Unionville Times. Ryan served as a prosecutor in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office for seven years prior to her promotion, according to the article.

David J. Hickton (’81), U.S. Attorney for Western Pennsylvania, penned an opinion column for the Erie Times-News regarding the strong effectiveness of Project Safe Neighborhoods in Erie County.

Zachary Gordon (center in picture), a third-year student, won the 2013 University of Pittsburgh School of Law Appellate Moot Court Competition by prevailing in the final round held Friday, November 15, 2013 before The Hon. D. Michael Fisher (right), United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit; The Hon. Mary Jane Bowes (left),  Superior Court of Pennsylvania; and The Hon.

After seven years of service to the University’s Office of Institutional Advancement, including four years as the Law School’s Director of Development & Alumni Affairs, Drew Chelosky has accepted the position of Assistant Dean for Development at West Virginia University’s Eberly College of Arts & Sciences.  Drew leaves behind an impactful legacy.
