The University of Pittsburgh School of Law is pleased to announce it
has been selected as one of the two host institutions for the Council
on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) 2009 Summer Regional Institutes.
Pitt Law has had a close relationship with CLEO since its inception as
a federally-funded program to enhance diversity in legal education, and
is honored to play host to a CLEO Institute for the eighth time since
1993.
This summer, the University of Pittsburgh School of Law,
along with the Southern Illinois University Law School, will each host
40 students for an intensive pre-law summer institute for students from
underrepresented backgrounds and economically disadvantaged situations.
More than 7,500 economically disadvantaged students have participated
since CLEO’s inception in 1968 and Pitt Law is excited to have the
privilege of hosting yet again this year. Our distinguished CLEO
faculty will challenge the CLEO Fellows with an intensive six-week law
school curriculum as the students immerse themselves in the world of
legal analysis.
As CLEO continues its mission of “diversifying
the legal profession by expanding legal education opportunities to
minority, low-income and disadvantaged groups,” Pitt Law is delighted
to be partnering again with them in this vital endeavor.
