Pitt Law Recruiting Policies 2019-2020

The following policies have been established to protect the interests of both law students and employers. By recruiting at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, employers agree to abide by these policies.

On-Campus Interviews

On-campus interviews are held throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. We can schedule these interviews to occur at the law school or within your office. There is never a charge to employers. Please register through PittLawWorks.

Fall Recruitment 2019:

Interviews will begin in Pittsburgh on August 5, 2019

  • Fall 2019 – Week 1: August 5 - 9

  • Fall 2019 – Week 2: August 12 - 16

  • Fall 2019 – Week 3: August 19 - 23

  • Fall 2019 – Week 4: August 26 – 30

In addition to the above weeks, dates are available through mid-November 2019 by request and resume collect can be conducted throughout the fall semester. The following dates are NOT available: September 2, October 1, 2, 8 and 9. Please contact Sarah Weissman in PDO to register your firm for Fall Recruitment (412-648-1408 or sarahrw@pitt.edu ).

In 2012, Pitt Law began offering the option of on-site screening interviews. As a result of the overwhelming positive response, we encourage employers to hold screening interviews at your Pittsburgh offices during Fall Recruitment Weeks 1-3. As a reminder, a member of the Pitt Law Professional Development Office will be on-site to ensure a successful interview day. If you are recruiting for an office outside of the downtown Pittsburgh area, please request an interview schedule at the Law School.

We are also happy to facilitate video conference interviews for employers located outside of the Pittsburgh region that are unable to travel to campus for interviews. 

OCI will be managed through Pitt Law's new Career Services Management Portal: PittLawWorks. You may register on PittLawWorks for Fall OCI. Alternatively, please feel free to email sarahrw@pitt.edu with your date preferences, hiring criteria and job description, and the documents applicants should submit and we can create the posting for you

Spring Recruitment 2020:

OCI during the spring semester may be scheduled by contacting the PDO directly to set up a date that is mutually convenient. Please contact Sarah Weissman, Assistant Director of Private Sector Careers to schedule your spring OCI. Interviews can begin as early as Monday, January 13. Dates are available through March 30, 2019. The following dates are NOT available: January 20, March 9-13.

Collect Resumes

If you are unable to attend any of our interview programs, PDO will collect and forward student resumes to you. At your request, we can then work with you to arrange an interview schedule either at your office or at a mutually convenient location. Please register through PittLawWorks.

Lawyer to Lawyer Programs

PDO hosts Lawyer-to-Lawyer Programs on site at employers or at the law school. These sessions generally feature a brief presentation from the employer followed by a question and answer session. If you are interested in hosting a Lawyer-to-Lawyer Program, please contact Lori McMaster Esq., Executive Director of PDO.
