Search & Apply for Jobs

This program allows current law students who successfully completed their first year of law school to provide paid assistance to local private employers on a project-based or time-limited basis. Students perform such tasks as legal research, document drafting, document review, and legal and regulatory updates. STEP’s goal is to provide learning opportunities to our students and graduates while allowing private-sector employers to focus on more complex matters.

Each year, many Pitt Law students apply for positions with federal, state and local judges. While the application process is not complicated, it does take thought and thorough planning. What steps are involved in the application and interview process? PDO’s Director of Public Interest and Government Relations is happy to assist you with navigating the process by providing the following:

  • Several useful resources
  • Information on the application process
  • Prepping student through mock interviews and job strategy sessions; and
  • Identifying alumni clerks as networking contacts.

PDO offers several recruitment programs during the year; employers interview students both on and off campus for summer and permanent positions. We also conduct interview days in Philadelphia and facilitate internships in Washington, D.C., through our Semester in D.C. Program. Students should regularly check PittLawWorks for new opportunities.
