David Harris Reviews Police Internal Investigation Files and Notes for Louisville Courier-Journal Story on Police Misconduct

For the Louisville Courier-Journal’s series on police misconduct, Professor David Harris commented on an internal investigation of a police detective who made at least four different arrest of people who were incarcerated at the time of the offense. He reviewed internal police files, interrogation transcripts, and investigator notes of the case, and concluded that the investigation was both shoddy and biased. “[The documents] raise some question about whether the person who did the investigating went into it with the intent of supporting his fellow officer, rather than the intent of finding out what’s true and what’s false,” Harris said.
