“It's not the money, it's getting the land: A property perspective on the Trump Administration's border wall Executive Order,” a Lecture and Discussion with Students by Prof. Gerald Dickinson.  Lunch will be provided.

President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order mandating the securing of the “southern border of the United States through the immediate construction of a physical wall” may result in one of the nation’s largest civil-military projects in decades, raising concerns over the cost and scale of such a project. However, one important, but largely unrecognized, facet of the Executive Order is the elusive federal eminent domain power. The Fifth Amendment Takings Clause stands as perhaps the most potent practical obstacle to the construction of a physical wall along the US-Mexico international border. Join Professor Dickinson for a "Lunch and Learn" about the wall and the complex property rights issues along the southwest border.
