Honorable D. Michael Fisher appointed to Chair of the Committee on Federal State Jurisdiction

Effective Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Pitt Law’s Distinguished Jurist in Residence, the Honorable D. Michael Fisher will begin to serve a three year term as the Chair of the Committee on Federal State Jurisdiction. Judge Fisher has served on the committee since 2014. The committee is comprised of 8 federal judges and 4 state Chief Justices.
The Federal State Jurisdiction committee serves as a liaison between Federal and State Courts and reports to the U.S. Judicial Conference on pending bills in Congress that will impact federal and state courts. Judge Fisher’s appointment comes from Chief Justice John Roberts. He will succeed Judge Richard R. Clifton.
