THE IRIS MARION YOUNG AWARD CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE COMMITTED TO SOCIAL JUSTICE?
Nominate them for the Iris Marion Young Award for Political Engagement
Like the philosopher, social theorist, and former University of Pittsburgh faculty member Iris Marion Young, this award recognizes that social activism takes many forms. Justice can be pursued in a variety of ways and places—in the classroom and workplace, in organizations, through specific projects, in academic scholarship, in politics and volunteer work. The venue does not matter—the effort and quality of contribution does.
We invite nominations of any member of the Pitt staff, faculty, graduate or undergraduate
community who work to promote social justice and democracy. We especially welcome
nominations of individuals whose work explicitly engages issues of gender and sexuality.
Recipients will receive a cash award at the recognition ceremony.
WHOM TO NOMINATE
Nominate staff, faculty, graduate or undergraduate students.
All fields of study and activism are welcome.
DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS
Nominations must be received by Saturday, December 15, 2018.
