Pitt Law Alumni Honored by Pittsburgh Business Times

The Pittsburgh Business Times named University of Pittsburgh School of Law alumni, Bryant A. Andrews (JD’ 17), Max Gelernter (JD’ 17), and Sydney Rochelle Normil (JD’15), recipients of the 2020 30 under 30 award, honoring young, dynamic leaders who have made an impact on their industries and in their communities.

Bryant A. Andrews is an associate at Cozen O’Conner Law in the firm’s Labor & Employment department. He specializes in employment law and counsels employers on matters of harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and incidents filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board. Andrews also defends labor grievances and employment-related lawsuits arising from Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and related state laws. Additionally, he provides on-site management and employee training on employment law issues, and drafts employee contracts, separation agreements, and employee handbooks.

Max Gelernter works as an associate of the commercial litigation and disputes practice group in the Pittsburgh office of K&L Gates. He concentrates on compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), internal investigations and has assisted in international investigations of business activities and third-party business partners associated with the firm’s clients. Gelernter has pre-trial litigation experience with conducting fact depositions, drafting and responding to discoveries, and preparing for and defending expert depositions. He is also a dedicated member of K&L’s pro bono group and focuses on helping members of Pittsburgh’s LGBT community and representing clients in civil rights ligation.

Sydney Rochelle Normil is an associate with Buchanan, Ingersoll, and Rooney. She assists clients with complex commercial litigation and specializes in antitrust, securities, and energy matters. Normil is an experienced litigation attorney in state and federal trial and appellate courts, including initial fact investigation and case strategy, discovery development and depositions, dispositive and Daubert motions, and other pre and post-trial aspects. She was selected for inclusion in The National Black Lawyers' Top 40 under 40 in Pennsylvania and is a 2020 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder. Normil was a member of Buchanan’s 2014 Summer Associate Program.
