Last year, Pitt Law and Duquesne collaborated to offer the First Annual Three Rivers Tech and IP Colloquium, hosted at University of Pittsburgh School of Law. To carry on this new tradition, Duquesne School of Law will host the second edition of this event on Friday, January 25, 2019.
This year the topic of technology is included, broadening participation and paper topics for presenters. The goal remains the same: to allow IP (and now law & tech) researchers and teachers with connections to the region to gather, share their work, critique and improve it, and build a fellowship of similarly-situated colleagues. The format enables the sharing of works in progress with the opportunity for extended conversations about individual papers.
For IP, the subject matter domain includes: patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, design rights, rights of publicity, broadcast rights, chip designs, vessel hulls, and related issues. Also welcomed are law and tech subject matter, which includes: privacy law, technology ethics, regulation, fintech, cybersecurity, AI, blockchain, and robots. Interdisciplinary applications are welcome (law and economics, STS, cultural theory, etc.; and/or other legal disciplines, such as corporate law, commercial law, employment law, and antitrust law).
Full-time faculty teachers and researchers in IP and tech at the region's law schools are welcome. Full-time faculty teachers and researchers in IP and tech will participate.
