The Law of Amateur Sports - 2231

The course will examine the system of governance over amateur sports, including the enforcement of NCAA rules and bylaws, as well as the structure of conferences, leagues, and collegiate institutions. The course will also analyze the legal issues facing student-athletes, from recruitment and eligibility to student privacy and gender equity. Finally, the course will address the business context of amateurism, with legal issues covering intellectual property, branding, pay-for-play, and antitrust litigation.
