Biography
Eric is a partner at Reed Smith practicing in the area of Restructuring & Insolvency. From an early age, Eric dreamed of representing indenture trustees in matters involving defaulted securities. Happily, he has spent much of the last 30 years doing just that in courts within and beyond the United States. He has represented trustees in major bankruptcy cases, receiverships, non-judicial restructurings, and litigation involving heavy industry, healthcare, investment banking, retailers, utilities, airlines, sovereign and municipal issuers, mining, gaming, schools and colleges, and cultural institutions. Eric also has done a wide range of presentations on corporate trust default issues. Outside the world of corporate trust, Eric is actively involved with several civic and cultural organizations. He is an aging cyclist, who claims that he has ridden with the winners of 8 Tours de France.
Eric has been a featured panelist on the subject of corporate trust defaults at meetings of the American Bankers Association and the American Bar Association. He has lectured before bar associations and other groups on a wide range of topics, including cross-border insolvency proceedings, municipal insolvencies, receiverships, and Article 8 execution procedures.
