Judith Teeter

Professor of Practice


Judith Teeter teaches Alternative Dispute Resolution and Legal Writing. She received her B. A. from University of Wisconsin – Madison, and practiced as a Social Worker in the juvenile justice area until she enrolled in law school. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law in 1984, and a Master’s Certificate in Conflict Resolution from Duquesne University’s Public Policy Program in 2004. 

Judi has been a mediator since 1989, and a teacher and trainer in mediation and conflict resolution since 2002. She provides volunteer mediation services for the Dialogue and Resolution Center of the Center for Victims of Violence and Crime, and is approved as a mediator for the United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. . Judi has conducted numerous mediation training classes for lawyers and non-lawyers, and is a Board member for the Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania. She also runs a high school peer mediation program at Pitt Law, in which she trains law students teach high school students to become peer mediators. 

During her legal career, Judi has worked in legal services programs as Managing Attorney and Litigation Director, has directed a pro bono legal services program for HIV affected families, and has practiced at private firms in the areas of general civil litigation and labor law, with an expertise in employment law.  Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Judi served as a law clerk to Justice Cynthia Baldwin on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
