Mentor/Mentee Program

Faculty mentors have been assigned to all JD students and can be viewed on PeopleSoft. The name of your faculty mentor appears in your Student Services Center tab in the "Advisor" section in PeopleSoft. Faculty mentors also know the identity of their mentees.  Except for the first semester of your first year, you are required to meet with your faculty mentor once each semester and have your mentor sign a designated form which the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will make available to you in advance of any scheduled meetings. You are then required to submit that signed form to the Registrar’s Office after your meeting.  Failure to submit the signed form will mean that an ADV hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to register for the next semester’s classes.  In order to facilitate the meetings between mentors and mentees, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will designate one Friday each semester as “Mentoring Day” when students and faculty should plan to meet, unless they mutually prefer a different date, or there is a truly irreconcilable conflict on the part of either of them on the designated Mentoring Day. The purpose of the program is to allow faculty to be more closely engaged with individual students, to make sure that they are on target for graduation, are taking classes that will help achieve their own career objectives, and are in a good position to pass the bar.
