Each student will meet with a Career Counselor during their first year and is encouraged to meet with the counselor as often as needed. As a students begins to develop his or her legal career path, they are able to work with an PDO counselor whose background mirrors the student’s career aspirations.
For example, PDO Executive Director and Co-Director of Pitt Law's Externship Program, Rochelle McCain counsels students seeking a judicial clerkship, or to work in the government or public interest sector, Sarah Weissman oversees on-campus recruiting and assists students seeking to practice in the private sector; and Jamey Mentzer counsels students wishing to use their J.D. in a non-traditional role. These one-on-one meetings can address all aspects of career planning including: resume and cover letter drafting, application procedures, market and employer information, practice area and career exploration, interview preparation and professional development.
Appointments are available in-person and via telephone.
Our office is open Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Additionally, PDO has daily walk-in hours and hosts “Facetime” in the student lounge.
