Course Description

This seminar will examine a dozen topics in health law and bioethics through primary legal sources (cases and statutes), supplemented by two other sources. For eleven of the topics, we will read the "back story" of a landmark legal case. These back stories (each about 25 pages) are written by law professors based on interviews with individuals who have firsthand knowledge of the case, including parties and their family members, their attorneys, and law clerks for the judges. Students, in collaboration with the professor, will also select primary legal sources for all students to read.
