Joseph Selep

Adjunct Professor of Law

Joseph W. Selep is an accomplished litigator with extensive experience defending clients in complex civil litigation across a broad spectrum of industries. He has represented major religious organizations, nonprofits, and healthcare providers—including doctors, nursing homes, and hospitals—in high-stakes lawsuits involving allegations of physical, mental, and sexual misconduct, as well as professional liability. His practice also includes the defense of manufacturers in product liability actions, including those involving medical devices, and he has served as lead counsel in “bet-the-company” litigation, mass torts, and class actions.

Selep has successfully defended companies in asbestos-related lung cancer and mesothelioma claims, employers in employment and civil rights disputes, and a range of clients—including trucking companies, contractors, and engineers—in personal injury and defective construction cases.

He has tried a wide variety of cases to verdict in nearly every State and Federal Court in Western Pennsylvania and Northern West Virginia.
