Bill Maruca is a retired partner who practiced at Fox Rothschild LLP. He has extensive experience in health care law, particularly the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, the HITECH Act, Medicare and Medicaid compliance, the Stark physician self-referral law, the False Claims Act, CLIA, EMTALA, and other federal and state regulatory requirements. He represented physicians and other individual practitioners, hospitals and health systems, ambulatory surgical centers, imaging centers, durable medical equipment suppliers, physical therapy providers, ambulance providers, chiropractic clinics, and other health-related ventures with regard to their formation, contractual relationships and compliance with federal and state regulations, credentialing and medical staff matters, reimbursement, professional licensure, fraud and abuse and self-referral issues.
Professor Maruca served as the editor of a well-respected Health Care Privacy Law blog. Professor Maruca is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and is past Chair of its Fraud and Abuse, Self-Referral and False Claims Practice Group and the moderator of its Stark Law listserv.
Professor Maruca has been a frequent speaker on health care topics at national and regional conferences and has served as a guest lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He has frequently contributed to and been quoted by national and regional health care publications.
