Governing through Shocks: Policy and Institutional Reforms in Asia and the Pacific
This program will explore the importance of holistic legal, policy and institutional reforms in strengthening country governance systems, especially in the context of the increasing frequency and severity of exogenous shocks in the Asia and Pacific regions. They will emphasize the importance of establishing a sound national enabling legal and regulatory environment to ensure that governments in developing countries, particularly in the Asia and Pacific regions, successfully manage fiscal risks, effectively deliver their public service commitments and achieve their development objectives.
The CLE program has been approved by the Pennsylvania CLE Board for 2.5 hours of substantive credit. Except for Pitt Law faculty and staff, there is a fee of $75 for those seeking CLE credits.

Elections and the Rule of Law
How does our democracy really work? What happens behind the scenes on Election Day? How are votes counted and election results certified? And what role do federal and state courts play when election disputes arise?
Join Pitt Law for a nonpartisan conversation with election officials and former federal prosecutors and judges who will help answer these questions, address common concerns and misinformation, and provide insight into the laws and constitutional processes that safeguard our elections.

Trial Tactics: The Lightning Round
Pitt Law, along with their co-sponsor, The Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and the ACBA, will offer a special two-hour CLE which, quite appropriate to the occasion, will focus on trial tactics. Titled, “The Lightning Round”, this program, which is open to all members of the Bar, will feature a fast-paced discussion of key strategy and tactical issues that arise during trial. This CLE is ideal for any litigator looking to improve or refresh their courtroom skills.
Immediately after the program, The University of Pittsburgh School of Law is holding a special recognition event, and reception to honor John P. Gismondi for his 40 consecutive years of teaching Trial Advocacy to our students.
