For Our Students

The Professional Development Office provides the resources and support students and alumni need to navigate their employment search during law school and after graduation. The PDO is committed to position students to be prepared to be practice ready by the time they graduate. In doing so, the PDO organizes a wide variety of career-related programming throughout the school year to pique students' interest in specialized areas of legal practice, navigate potential career paths, and encourage students to think about job opportunities as they develop a post-graduation employment plan.

Career Counseling

The PDO offers one-on-one career counseling for current students and graduates. Students are free to discuss all of their ideas and concerns. Common discussion topics include career exploration, job search strategies, and tips for interviewing.

On-Campus Recruiting

The PDO will help you plan for the career of your choice, meet prospective employers, and make connections through a broad range of recruitment programs during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Career Sectors

At Pitt Law, our students are interested in all aspects of pursuing a career in the major practice sectors—private practice, government and public interest, judicial clerkships, and alternative and emerging careers.

Student Professional Development Fund

The Pitt Law Student Professional Development Fund assists students in their search to find employment and supports their participation in professional development opportunities, unique learning experiences, educational programming, and job interviews, that will help students explore their career options.
