Pitt Law Democrats

The Pitt Law Democrats is an independent student group. We arrange for a range of politicians to come to the law school, ranging from representatives to the U.S. Congress to justices elected to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. We also arrange paths for students to get involved in voter registration and local canvassing. If you have a passion for local politics, or have recently moved to Pittsburgh and want to learn more, please find us on Facebook or at one of our events!

Pitt Law Women's Association

The Pitt Law Women's Association was founded to give female law students a community within a male-dominated field. As women's equality in the law has grown, PLWA has changed as well into an organization dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of women in the law and helping to provide career guidance and support to anyone who is dedicated to furthering gender equity in the profession.

Pitt Legal Income Sharing Foundation

Pitt Legal Income Sharing Foundation (PLISF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to supporting law students who accept public interest summer internships. These internships are typically unpaid, and PLISF believes a student should not have to turn down a position they truly want due to lack of financing options.

Throughout the year, PLISF fundraises to provide scholarships to students taking public interest internship positions. PLISF also holds events, coordinates volunteer opportunities, and advertises job openings to support and promote student interest and practice in public interest law.

Prisoner Legal Support Project

Prisoner Legal Support Project is a student-led organization that advocates for prisoners' rights and criminal justice reform. We are an action-oriented group that assists incarcerated individuals with legal research, works with community organizations to mobilize for legislative change, and raises awareness about particular issues faced by the prison population. We especially focus on the struggles faced by racial minorities, religious minorities, women, and members of the LGBTQ community. Our members volunteer their time to positively impact individuals who are experiencing abuse, discrimination, or other injustices.
