The Appropriate Role of Text and History in Constitutional Litigation| 4-6 p.m.

The University of Pittsburgh Law Alumni Association is sponsoring this one-hour substantive CLE at the Museum of the American Revolution.  Jerry Dickinson, Vice Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Eric Segall, Ashe Family Chair Professor of Law at the Georgia State University College of Law, both experts in constitutional law, will review how American “history and tradition,” from the founding of our republic to contemporary times, now inform constitutional litigation.  They will explore how we arrived at this inflection point and discuss this trend’s impact on future litigation.  Included in the presentation will be a discussion on recently decided United States Supreme Court cases, and an attempt to contextualize them in broader constitutional jurisprudence.

Following the CLE there will be a tour of the museum’s newest special exhibition, Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington's Tent.  Join us after the tour for a reception.

This program has been approved by the Pennsylvania CLE board for 1 hour of substantive credit.
